The 2013 Nissan Frontier is a midsize pickup that offers versatility, practicality, admirable handling and powerful engine. The Frontier is one of the best selling cars in the midsize pickup segment and has easy-to-use cabin controls, comfortable front seats, and it is rated at up to 6,500 pounds towing capacity. The new 2013 Nissan Frontier competes with Toyota Tacoma and Honda Ridgeline.
The 2013 Nissan Frontier is offered in two body styles: King Cab (extended-cab) and Crew Cab. Regular cab body style is not available. The King Cab models come with fold-down rear jump seats and a 6-foot cargo bed, while Crew Cab models come with a 60/40-split-folding rear bench and a choice of a standard 5-foot or optional 6-foot bed. The 2013 Frontier also comes in five trim levels: S, SV, off-road-oriented Desert Runner (this new trim level debuts for 2013), Pro-4X and SL.
The 2013 Nissan Frontier entry-level S comes standard with 15-inch steel wheels, rear privacy glass, cloth upholstery and a flat-folding front passenger seat. The air-conditioning and a four-speaker audio system with CD player are available as options on the Preferred package. The Frontier SV adds 16-inch wheels, keyless entry, silding rear window, cruise control, upgraded cloth upholstery, a tilt-only steering wheel, full power accesories, Bluetooth connectivity and an additional 12-volt power outlet. Options include foglights, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear parking sensor, a Class IV trailer hitch and a rearview camera.
The Desert Runner comes with special exterior and interior styling details, off-road tires and shock absorbers. The Pro-4X adds to Desert Runner a locking rear differential, automatic headlights, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a trip computer. The Luxury package adds a sunroof, roof rack, a rear-seat center armrest and a navigation system. The top SL trim (only offered on Crew Cab models) is almost identically with the Pro-4X with Luxury package.
The new 2013 Nissan Frontier comes with a choice of two engines. Standard on the King Cab S and SV models is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 152 hp and 171 lb-ft of torque. A 5-speed manual transmission is standard, while a 5-speed automatic transmission is optional. The rear-wheel drive is also standard.
Optional on the SV extended-cab and standard for all other models is a 4.0-liter V6 engine that produces 261 hp and 281 lb-ft of torque. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard while the 5-speed automatic is optional (except the Desert Runner that comes with the automatic only). Also available is a choice of rear- or four-wheel drive.
