The 2014 Mazda CX-5 is a compact crossover SUV that offers a good fuel economy, seating for five people, an adaptive cargo space, a very good manual transmission and SKYACTIV Technology, that is a technology used to get more power, more torque and more miles per gallon without sacrificing safety or design. The 2014 Mazda CX-5 competes with Honda CR-V, Subaru Forester, Toyota RAV4 and Ford Escape.
The 2014 Mazda CX-5 is a five-passenger compact SUV that is offered in Sport, Touring and Grand Touring trim levels. The 2014 Mazda CX-5 base Sport comes standard with 17-inch wheels, keyless entry, cloth upholstery, manual air conditioning, a height-adjustable driver seat, cruise control, tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, power windows, and locks, push-button start, rear spoiler, 60/40 split fold-down rear seats and a 4-speaker sound system with CD player and iPod/USB interface. The optional Bluetooth Audio package adds Bluetooth connectivity, a 5.8-inch touchscreen interface, HD radio and audio system voice control.
The Touring comes with Sport’s standard and optional equipment and adds a more powerful engine, a blind-spot warning system, a rearview camera, six-way power driver’s seat, upgraded cloth upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, 40/20/40 split fold-down rear seats, rear-seat armrest with cupholders, illuminated vanity mirrors and a 6-speaker sound system. A sunroof and a nine-speaker Bose surround-sound audio system are available as options.
The Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring includes all of above and adds 19-inch wheels, leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, power moonroof, eight-way power driver seat with power lumbar, automatic wipers, automatic headlights, heated mirrors and heated front seats. The Technology package is available on both Touring and Grand Touring trim levels and adds automatic adaptive bi-xenon headlights, auto-dimming mirror, rain-sensing windshield wipers, burglar alarms, advanced keyless and start and Tom Tom navigation system.
With soft-touch sourfaces, satin-finish metallic details and mature design, the cockpit of the 2014 Mazda CX-5 is attractive, functional and modern. The cargo capacity is 34 cubic feet behind the rear seats, which expands to 65 cubic feet with the rear seats all folded.
The 2014 Mazda CX-5 Sport comes with a SKYACTIV 2.0-liter DOHC 4-cylinder engine with 16 valves and VVT that produces 155 hp and 150 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive are standard, while a 6-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive are available as options.
The Mazda CX-5 Touring and Grand Touring come with a 2.5-liter DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder with VVT engine that produces 184 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque. The six-speed Sport automatic transmission with manual-shift mode is standard.
Standard safety features of 2014 Mazda CX-5 include antilock brakes, traction control, stability control, front side airbag, side curtain airbags and Hill Launch Assist.
