The 2013 Mazdaspeed3 is the high-performance tuned version of the Mazda3 hatchback. The Mazdaspeed3 offers a practical and versatile interior, a long list of standard features and a powerful engine. The Mazdaspeed3 differs from the regular Mazda3 with its upgraded gauges, sport front seats, rear spoiler, an aggressive body style and tuned suspension and steering. The 2013 Mazdaspeed3 competes with Subaru WRX hatchback, Volkswagen GTI and Ford Focus ST.
The 2013 Mazdaspeed3 is a five-seat car available in the hatchback body style only and also in one trim level: Touring. The Mazdaspeed3 comes standard with 18-inch wheels, keyless entry, foglights, cruise control, a height-adjustable driver seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, leather and cloth-trimmed upholstery, Bluetooth connectivity, a 10-speaker Bose sound system with a CD player and an USB interface, and a limited-slip differential.
The Technology package is available for Mazdaspeed3 and adds automatic wipers, keyles ignition, keyless entry, automatic and adaptive headlights, LED taillights, a blind-spot warning system, HD radio, Pandora connectivity and a navigation system with voice comands and a touchscreen.
The 2013 Mazdaspeed3 is powered by a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with DISI (Direct-Injection Spark Ignition) that produces 263 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired with a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission with short-throw shifter. The EPA-estimated fuel economy for the 2013 Mazdaspeed3 is 18 mpg city/ 25 mpg highway, that is considerably lower than its competitors.
All 2013 Mazdaspeed3 come standard with active front headrests, front side-impact airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Traction Control System (TCS), Tire-Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), side-impact door beams and collapsible steering column.
