The 2013 Ford Edge is a five-passenger crossover SUV that offers an attractive exterior, high-quality cabin materials, abundand features, comfortable ride and great fuel economy. The Ford Edge competes on the market with Nissan Murano, Mazda CX-9, Dodge Journey and Toyota Highlander.
The 2013 Ford Edge is offered in four trim levels: SE, SEL, Limited and Sport. The base SE comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheels, cruise control, a trip computer, air conditioning and a six-speaker sound system with single-CD player and an auxiliary audio jack. The Convenience package adds an auto-dimming rearview mirror, automatic headlights and rear parking sensors. Also optional is the Sync voice-command interface, that includes Bluetooth connectivity and iPod/USB interface.
The Ford Edge SEL adds 18-inch wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, exterior keypad entry, an eight-way power driver seat and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The leather upholstery, heated front seats and a rearview camera are optional for this model. Also optional is the MyFord Touch system, that is an interface with three display screens (a large central touchscreen and two secondary screens in the gauge cluster) and with the ability to input commands for various phone, audio and navigation functions via touch controls or voice.
The 2013 Ford Edge Limited comes with the above equipment and adds 18-inch chrome wheels, heated mirrors and a 12-speaker Sony audio system. The options include 20-inch wheels, xenon headlamps, keyless ignition, keyless entry and an adaptive cruise control.
The 2013 Edge Sport comes with all standard and optional equipment of the Edge SEL and adds a more powerful engine, a sport-tuned suspension, the Sony audio system and 22-inch wheels.
The 2013 Ford Edge SE, SEL and Limited come standard with a 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 285 hp and 253 lb-ft of torque. Optional is a new 2.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost engine that produces 240 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. Front-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic transmission are standard. All-wheel drive is optional. EPA-estimated fuel economy is 19 mpg city/ 27 mpg highway for V6 engine and 21 mpg city/ 30 mpg highway for EcoBoost.
The Ford Edge Sport comes with a 3.7-liter V6 engine that produces 305 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission with shift paddles is standard. Front-wheel drive also is standard, while all-wheel drive is optional.
Safety features include antilock disc brakes, stability control, front-seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags and collision warning system.
