The refreshed 2014 Volkwagen Scirocco will make its official debut at the 2014 Geneva Auto Show, in the same place where 40 years ago this hatchback coupe was first launched. After more than a million Sciroccos sold, Volkswagen has considered that it is time for a refresh.
The new 2014 Volkswagen Scirocco comes with a stylish shape that has been modernized and refined, with new taillights and headlights, as well as revised bumper styling. The revised front bumper features aerodynamic “blades” in the outer section, with integrated indicator lights, daytime running lights and fog lights. At the rear, all Sciroccos have LED tail lights, while the bumper has been reshaped to appear lower and more purposeful.
The new Volkswagen Scirocco comes with a choice of several different petrol and diesel engines. The 1.4 TSI petrol engine produces 123 hp, while a new 2.0-liter engine (which replaces the previous 2.0 TSI unit) produces 177 hp or 217 hp, depending on model. A 2.0-liter TDI diesel engine comes in two versions and generates 147 hp or 181 hp. All of these models get standard stop-start function in Europe.
The new 2014 Volkswagen Scirocco will be delivered starting in August, in Europe.
The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is a newcomer in the premium compact class and features comfort, functionality, dynamism, style and elegance. The new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is being launched with a choice of three powerful, light and fuel-efficient three- and four-cylinder engine.
BMW says that the new three-cylinder petrol unit stands out for its exceptional efficiency and great performance abilities. This engine has a displacement of 1.5 liters and generates 136 hp. This engine will be mounted on the BMW 218i Active Tourer. The 225i Active Tourer comes with a 4-cylinder/ 231 hp engine, while the BMW 218d Active Tourer comes with an 150 hp diesel engine.
The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is the first model in the premium compact class to be made available with a Head-up Display, which projects all relevant driving information into the driver’s field of vision in full colour.
The production of this model is expected to start in May, 2014.
The Opel Ampera, European cousin of Chevrolet Volt, has been picked as the winner in the annual European Car of the Year awards. Announced at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, the Opel Ampera was awarded with 330 points by judges while the up! come in second with 281 points and the Focus in third with 256 points. The latest title sees the Chevy Volt’s number of international awards continue to grow, with the car previously tacking the 2011 North American Car of the Year title.
The Opel Ampera ( Chevrolet Volt) has competed with other 35 contenders in this year’s competition.
Introduced at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, the new 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander features Mitsubishi’s new design style. Offering a size that is similar to the outgoing model, the new 2013 Outlander will continue to offer both five- and seven-seat configurations with the third row reserved for small children.
The new 2013 Outlander will offer new fuel-efficient powertrain options to go along with its new look. Ranging from gasoline four-cylinder engines to diesel, Mitsubishi is comitted to improving its fuel economy numbers. The new 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander will go on sale in Europe this summer and in U.S. market at the end of the year.
The new third-generation of A-Class has been revealed at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. The five-door hatchback is set for European sale in September and for U.S. market in 2013. Mercedes-Benz puts the all-new A-Class into direct competition with the new Audi A3, BMW 1-series and Volvo V40.
Powered by a brace of four-cylinder gas and diesel engines ranging between 1.6- and 2.0-liter, all 2013 Mercedes-Benz A Class powertrains feature direct injection and turbocharging as well as standard start/stop functionality. The engines can be combined with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch (7G-DCT) automatic transmission which is the more fuel efficient option.
