Scion FR-S

Scion is a brand of vehicles produced by Toyota for the North American market. Scion was founded in 2002 and was first introduced in March 2002 at the New York Auto Show. Marketed as a youth brand, the Scion lineup uses a one-trim and a simplified purchase process.

The 2013 Scion FR-S (Front engine Rear drive Sports coupe) is a sports coupe that was inspired by the legendary Toyota 2000 GT. This affordable Japanesse sports car is all new and is built in collaboration with Subaru, which co-developed (along with Toyota) a flat 4-cylinder horizontally opposed direct-injection boxer engine (same engine as his brother, the Subaru BRZ). The rear-wheel-drive Scion FR-S comes with seats for four and features an excellent steering, high fuel economy, a light and well-balanced chassis, comfortable front seats, a distinctive styling and abundant standard features. The FR-S competes with Mazda MX-5 Miata, Hyundai Genesis coupe and Subaru BRZ.

The 2013 Scion FR-S is available in a single trim level (like all Scion’s models) and comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, chrome-tipped dual exhaust, power windows, keyless entry, power mirrors, air conditioning, a tilt-and-telescoping leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, 6-way driver and 4-way front-passenger manually adjustable seats, cloth upholstery, leather-wrapped shift knob, aluminum sport pedals, Bluetooth connectivity and an 8-speaker, 300-watt Pioneer sound system. 18-inch alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, fog lights, front LED running lights, dual-zone automatic climate control, an electroluminescent dashboard and a premium BeSpoke sound system are available as options.

The Scion FR-S is powered by a 2.0-liter horizontally opposed boxer four-cylinder engine that produces 200 hp and 151 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifter and dynamic rev management.

Standard safety features include ABS, brake assist, traction control, stability control, front-seat side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags.

The Aol Autos website says about the new Scion FR-S:

The Scion FR-S offers track-day fun at an attainable price.┬áIts traditional rear-wheel-drive layout with double-wishbone independent rear suspension and low center of gravity make for an entertaining driver’s car.
