The 2013 Buick Regal is a front-drive four-door five-seat entry-luxury midsize sedan that offers an aggressive styling, a high level of standard equipment and an impressive attention to detail. For 2013, the eAssist system is the standard powertrain for non-turbo models. This system uses a smaller battery and a generator/motor in place of an alternator to give the car’s mileage a boost.
Attention to detail complements the Regal’s bold styling, with Buick design cues such as the waterfall grille, select use of chrome trim and excellent fit and finish of the exterior panels. Buick’s signature portholes are located on the hood instead of the front fenders, and all Regal models sport a black chrome grille.
The 2013 Buick Regal comes in base, Turbo and high-performance GS trim levels. The Regal base and Turbo come with different Premium option groups.
The 2013 Buick Regal base comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, heated mirrors, foglights, automatic headlights, cruise control, leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, an eight-way power driver seat, split-folding rear seats, a power height-adjustable passenger seat, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, a customizable touchscreen interface, Bluetooth connectivity and a 7-speaker sound system with a CD player, an iPod/USB interface and IntelliLink smartphone integration. The Buick Regal Turbo adds 18-inch wheels, a heated steering wheel and unique powertrain components.
The Premium 1 Group adds to Regal base and Turbo rear parking sensors, keyless ignition, keyless entry and remote ignition. The Premium 2 Group adds xenon headlights, rear-seat side airbags and a 9-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. The Premium 3 is a Turbo-only trim and adds 19-inch alloy wheels, adjustable driving settings and adaptive suspension.
The high-performance Buick Regal GS includes a more powerful turbocharged engine, front parking sensors, sport-tuned suspension, front sport seats and the Interactive Drive Control system.
The 2013 Buick Regal comes with a choice of three different powertrains. The 2013 Regal base comes with a new 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with eAssist (a mild hybrid technology) that produces 182 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque. The standard transmission is a 6-speed automatic with manual shift controls. EPA fuel economy estimates are 25 mpg city/ 36 mpg highway.
The Regal Turbo models come with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 22 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. The six-speed automatic transmission is standard while a 6-speed manual transmission is offered as an option. The EPA estimates are 18 mpg city/ 29 mpg highway with the automatic and 20/ 32 mpg with the manual.
The 2013 Regal GS comes with the same engine as Turbo, but this engine has been upgraded to produce 270 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. The 6-speed manual transmission is standard.
