The new 2012 Toyota Camry is a front-wheel drive, five-passenger, four-door sedan which has been the best selling car in America every year but one, since 1997. Toyota made the best-selling Camry even better with a redesign for 2012 thanks to its excellent fuel economy, refined performance and high-quality interior.
The redesigned 2012 Toyota Camry has roomy interior, best-in-class non-hybrid, non-diesel fuel economy, relaxed ride and smooth engine. The 2012 Toyota Camry competes with Hyundai Sonata, Honda Accord, Nissan Altima and Ford Fusion.
The 2012 Toyota Camry is offered in L ( MSRP from $22,055), LE (starting at $22,600), SE (from $ 23,220) and XLE (at $24,775) trim levels. Toyota Camry Hybrid is considered a different model. The 2012 Toyota Camry L features 16-inch steel wheels, power windows, power mirrors, air conditioning, cruise control, split-folding rear seats, tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, Bluetooth and a six-speaker CD sound system with auxiliary input and USB jacks.
The Toyota Camry LE adds power locks, remote keyless entry, auto headlamps, Bluetooth streaming audio and a control touchscreen interface. The SE includes 17-inch alloy wheels, sport-tuned suspension, foglamps, heated exterior mirrors, sport seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. SE models get 18-inch wheels, keyless ignition, and an upgraded display interface that adds navigation, HD radio, voice recognition, web integration and more.
The luxurious Toyota Camry XLE reverts to the LE’s suspension setting and adds heated exterior mirrors, a sunroof, dual zone automatic climate control and an eight-way power driver seat. A rearview camera, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, leather upholstery and heated front seats are standard on Toyota Camry XLE with V6 engine.
The 2012 Toyota Camry debuts a bold, sophisticated new design with more spacious interior, improving driving dynamics and an even quieter ride than before. The 2012 Camry employs an elegantly simple but modern form, emphasizing a wider, lower stance that previous models. Headlights show a more dynamic shape, with a pronounced curvature of the main-beam unit merging into the bumper cover. The rear lamp clusters wrap tightly into the body sides, with their top sections extending into the trunk panel. Accentuating the new body design are two new colors: Attitude Black Metallic and Clearwater Blue.
While featuring nearly the same external dimensions as the previous model, the 2012 Toyota Camry offers a more inviting and spacious interior. A new dashboard design, modified seat locations, redesigned seat and “lean” door and pillar all combine to add both real space and greater perceptual spaciousness while also enhancing outward visibility. The new 2012 Camry provides the added functionality demanded by consumers, yet keeps its controls straightforward and intuitive to use. Control knobs impart a high-precision feel when used. Special attention was paid to function and comfort with the center console design. Soft kneepads on both sides add comfort for the driver and passenger. The front section offers a 12V accessory connector and an USB port for iPods and other media devices.
The new 2012 Toyota Camry is offered with a choice of two engine. Base Camrys are powered by a revised 2.5-liter four-cylinder Dual VVT-i (Dual Variable Valve Timing-intelligent) engine with ACIS (Acoustic Control Induction System). This engine produces now 178 hp and 170 lb-ft of torque. EPA-estimated fuel economy for 2012 Toyota Camry with this engine is rated at 25 mpg city and 35 mpg highway.
Another available engine in the SE and XLE grades of 2012 Camry is an DOHC 3.5-liter V6 that delivers 268 horsepower and 248 lb-ft of torque with EPA-estimated ratings of 21 mpg in city and 30 mpg highway, the best for any current V6 midsize sedan.
The 2012 Toyota Camry L, LE, SE and XLE models come equipped exclusively with a six-speed automatic transmission that offers a sequential manual shift mode using the console shifter.
2012 Camry features Toyota’s Star Safety System wich includes VSC, TRAC, ABS, EBD and Brake Assist. All 2012 Toyota Camry models are equipped with 10 standard airbags. The front-passenger’s knee airbag and rear-seat side airbags are new to Camry.
In 2012 Toyota Camry review, thecarconnection.com webside concludes:
The redesigned 2012 Toyota Camry remains the most conservative-looking pick among mid-size sedans, but if you want comfort, value, and frugality above all else, it’s probably just your style.
