Kia Forte 2012

The 2012 Kia Forte is a line of compact cars fitting between the subcompact Kia Rio and the mid-size Kia Optima in Kia’s lineup and it is available with a choice of four-cylinder engines and comes with numerous safety features. It is sold a sedan, a 5-door hatchback and a coupe (named Kia Koup). Competitors of Kia Forte include Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Nisan Sentra, Mazda3, Mitsubishi Lancer, Ford Focus and Chevrolet Cobalt.

The 2012 Kia Forte sedan is offered in three trim levels including the entry-level LX (at $15.200 MSRP), mid-level EX (starting at $17.600 MSRP) and sporty SX (at $19.100 MSRP). The 2012 Kia Forte hatchback and coupe are available in EX and SX trims only.

Standard equipment on the Kia Forte base LX model includes 15-inch steel-wheels, a six-way-adjustable driver seat, a tilt steering column, a 60/40-split-folding rear seat, four-speaker sound system with CD player, a USB/iPod interface and Bluetooth. The 2012 Kia Forte EX models come with keyless entry, air- conditioning, trip computer, iluminated vanity-mirrors, cruise control, full power accesories and a six-speaker sound system.

The Kia Forte SX comes equipped with a sport-tuned suspension, 17-inch alloy wheels, more powerful 2.4-liter engine and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob.

The 2012 Kia Forte LX and EX are powered by a 2.0-liter four cylinder inline engine that makes 156 horse power at 6200 rpm and 144 lb-ft of torque at 4300 rpm. The sporter SX comes with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder DOHC-CVVT engine that produces 173 hp at 6000 rpm and 168 lb-ft of torque at 4.000 rpm. A six-speed manual transmission is standard on LX models while EX and SX model come equipped with a 6-speed Electronically Controlled Sportmatic automatic transmission.

Keeping a relatively small footprint without sacrificing comfort for up to five passengers, Forte sedan and Forte 5-door come with a wheelbase of 104.3 inches, an overall width of 69.9 inches and overall height of 57.5 inches. The Kia-engineered body achieves high torsional stiffness and gives the Forte sedan and Forte 5-door taut, responsive handling, a smoother ride quality and greater refinement than its competitors.

2012 Kia Forte offers an impressive array of standard safety equipment, featuring front active headrests, dual advanced front airbags, front seat-mounted and side curtain airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, side-impact door beams, front and rear crumple zones, four-wheel disc brakes with an Antilock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and a Brake Assist System (BAS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), a Traction Control System (TCS) and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

Like all Kia models, the 2012 Forte and Forte 5-door are covered by a comprehensive warranty program10, which offers consumer protection at an exceptional value. Included in this program are a 10-year or 100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty, a five-year or 60,000-mile limited basic warranty, and a five-year or 100,000-mile anti-perforation warranty. A five-year/60,000-mile roadside assistance plan is also part of the comprehensive coverage program.
