The 2012 Dodge Challenger is a big, retro-styling 5-passenger two-door coupe. This coupe looks and sounds like the classic American muscle car but features the fuel efficiency, handling, safety and technology expected in a contemporary car. New for 2012 are an 18-speaker premium Harman Kardon stereo and steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters for the automatic transmission. The competitors of 2012 Dodge Challenger are Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro.
The 2012 Dodge Challenger is available in three trim levels that each correspond to a different engine: SXT, R/T and SRT8.
The standard equipment of 2012 Dodge Challenger SXT includes 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, keyless ignition, cruise control, full power accesories, automatic climate control, cruise control, a tilt-and-telescoping leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, a 60/40-split-folding rear seat, a six-way power driver seat, a trip computer and a six-speaker sound system with a CD player and an auxiliary audio jack. The optional SXT Plus package adds automatic headlights, foglights, leather upholstery, heated front seats, illuminated visor mirrors, Bluetooth connectivity and an upgraded sound system with an iPod/USB interface.
A number of other packages is also available for Dodge Challenger SXT model. The Super Sport package adds 20-inch chrome wheels, a rear spoiler and a performance tuned suspension, steering and brakes. An Interior Appearance group includes metal-accented pedals, upgraded floor mats and a T-handle shifter. The Electronics Convenience group includes remote start, heated mirrors and displays for tire pressure and outside temperature.
The 2012 Dodge Challenger R/T gets a V8 engine, the SXT basic equipment plus Super Sport group and adds automatic headlamps, heated mirrors, foglamps, a USB/iPod interface and Bluetooth connectivity. The R/T Plus package adds the rest of of the features of the SXT Plus package.
The 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 gets more powerful V8 engine, all the R/T’s basic equipment but adds xenon headlamps, sport seats, unique 20-inch wheels, hydraulic power steering and upgraded brakes and suspension.

The 2012 Dodge Challenger SXT is powered by a 3.6-liter V6 24-valve VVT engine that produces 305 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque. A five-speed automatic transmission is standard. EPA fuel economy estimates at 18 mpg city and 27 mpg highway.
The 2012 Dodge Challenger R/T gets a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 dual VVT engine that produces 375 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque. The standard transmission is a six-speed manual. Fuel mileage estimates are 15 mpg city and 24 mpg highway.
The 2012 Challenger SRT8 392 comes with a 6.4-liter SRT HEMI V8 engine that produces 470 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission. Fuel mileage estimates for 2012 Dodge SRT8 are 14 mpg city/ 23 highway.
Every 2012 Dodge Challenger comes standard with stability control, traction control, antilock disc brakes, active front head restraints, front side airbags and side curtain airbags.
