The 2012 Volvo XC70 is a crossover wagon that has a roomy and comfortable cabin with more cargo space than some larger SUVs. The 2012 Volvo XC70 is a five-seat wagon available in two submodels – 3.2 (starting at $ 32,950 MSRP) and T6 (MSRP from $ 39,100) – that are further broken into trim levels. The Volvo XC70 T6 is available with all-wheel drive only, while the 3.2 is available with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
Standard equipment on the 2012 Volvo XC70 3.2 includes 16-inch alloy wheels, heated mirrors, roof rails, foglamps, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, an eight-way power driver seat with memory functions, a 40/20/40 split rear seat, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, Bluetooth and an eight-speaker sound system with a CD player and an iPod/USB audio interface. The 3.2 Premier trim adds a sunroof, leather upholstery and rear privacy glass. The Premier Plus trim adds keyless ignition, keyless entry and front and rear parking sensors. The Platinum trim adds a rearview camera and a navigation system.
The T6 version of these trim levels offers the same equipment but other engine, standard all-wheel drive, 18-inch wheels and upgraded instruments. The Climate package adds automatic wipers, heated front and rear seats and an air quality sensor. The Technology package adds warning systems for impeding collisions and adaptive cruise control.
The 2012 Volvo XC70 has been developed and balanced to give a first-class driving experience, based largely on pliant ride and secure road holding allied to high stability. Stability is particularly important when driving with many passengers and a lot of luggage. Thanks to the design of the body structure and the optimised use of different grades of high-strength steel, torsional rigidity was increased by no less than 15 percent compared to the previous XC70 model. The chassis technology has been further developed to provide even more stable and more controlled road manners.
The engine for the 2012 Volvo XC70 3.2 is a 3.2-liter 6-cylinder that produces 240 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque. The front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is optional. The Volvo XC70 T6 comes with a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 engine that produces 300 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque. The all-wheel drive is standard. All 2012 Volvo XC70 models come with a six-speed automatic transmission.
The 2012 Volvo XC70 comes standard with ABS, traction control, stability control, hill descent control, front-seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, anti-whiplash front head restraints and Volvo’s City Safety feature that helps drivers avoid collisions with vehicles in front of them.
