The Infiniti brand was introduced in the United States in 1989 and it is the luxury division of automaker Nissan. The Infiniti marque is not used in Japan. The G series is the most popular model of Infiniti. With revised exterior styling, an enhanced interior treatment and upgraded technology features, the 2012 Infiniti G sedan has all chances to attract customers’ attention and to sell well.
The 2012 Infiniti G luxury sedan is available in G25 (at $32,600 MSRP), G25 Journey (from $34,000 MSRP), G25x (at $ 35,600), G37 Journey (at $ 36,400 MSRP), G37x (from $ 38,000 MSRP) and G37 Sport (at $41,000 MSRP) trim levels. The Infiniti G25x and G37x are practically identical to Journey trim, but they have all-wheel-drive. The Infiniti G Coupe and Convertible are considered independent models.
The base G25 of Infiniti G sedan comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, keyless ignition, keyless entry, foglights, xenon headlights, automatic climate control, cruise control, power front seats, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, leather upholstery and six-speaker sound system with CD player, auxiliary audio jack and satellite radio. The G25 Journey adds automatic headlights, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated mirrors, heated front seats, a rearview camera, an iPod/USB interface and Bluetooth phone connectivity.
The 2012 Infiniti G37 Journey is identically equipped as G25 Journey, but gets a more powerful engine and adds more available options. The Premium package adds rear parking sensors, a sunroof, driver memory functions and a 10-speaker Bose sound system. The Navigation package adds voice controls and a navigation system. The Technology package adds automatic wipers and adaptive cruise control. All these options are standard on the Infiniti G37 Sport which also adds 18-inch wheels, sport-tuned steering and suspension, high-performance tires, upgraded brakes, front sport seats, a limited-slip differential and six-speed manual transmission.
The 2012 Infiniti G sedan retains its visually striking exterior design, with its long, wave-like hood, raked A-pillars and athletic stance projecting a balance of power and grace that is suggestive of the performance potential within. The front of the G Sedan is highlighted by its iconic headlight and grille design, which offer a crisp form and high quality feel.
The 2012 Infiniti G25 is powered by 2.5-liter V6 engine that produces 218 hp and 187 lb-ft of torque. A seven-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive are standard. All-wheel drive is available on the Infiniti G25x model. Estimated fuel economy for 2012 Infiniti G25 sedan with rear-wheel drive is rated at 20 mpg city and 29 mpg highway. For Infiniti G25x the EPA-estimated fuel economy is 19 mpg city/ 27 mpg highway.
The 2012 Infiniti G37 comes with a 3.7-liter V6 engine with VVEL ( Variable Valve Event & Lift) that produces 328 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. A seven-speed automatic transmission is standard on the G37 Journey and G37x. A six-speed manual is standard on the G37 Sport. Estimated fuel economy for Infiniti G37 sedan RWD with the 7-speed automatic transmission is rated at 19 mpg city and 27 mpg highway while for G37 with 6-speed manual transmission is rated at 17 mpg city/ 25 mpg highway. Fuel economy for Infiniti G37x AWD is estimated at 18 mpg city and 25 mpg highway.
