The General Motors Company (GMC) introduced the GMC Canyon in 2004 as the succesor to the GMC Sonoma. The Canyon shares much in common with the Chevrolet Colorado. The 2011 GMC Canyon continues to be one of the most affordable light-duty pickup trucks on the road today.
The 2011 GMC Canyon is a compact truck available with two- or four-wheel drive, three primary trim levels (Work Truck -WT, SLE and SLT) and three body styles: Rgular Cab (MSRP $ 17.155 for WT trim and $18.350 for SLE), extended cab ( MSRP from $19.400 for WT, $ 20.925 SLE and $25.800 SLT) and Crew Cab (starting at $24.045 SLE and $27.350 for SLT trim level).
Three engines are disponible to 2011 GMC Canyon. First is the standard 2.9-liter four-cylinder in-line engine that produces 185 horse-power and 190 pound-feet of torque. This engine is standard on Work Truck and SLE models. The second is an 3.7-liter five-cylinder in-line that produces 242 hp and 242 lb-ft of torque. This engine is standard on SLT models and optional on WT and SLE. Optional on SLE and SLT trims and offered only on extended-cab and crew-cab models of GMC Canyon 2011 is an 5.3-liter V8 engine that produces 300 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque.
The disponible transmission is an 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic depending on model.
Fuel economy of 2011 GMC Canyon is 18 MPG city / 25 mpg highway for 2.9-liter engine, 17/23 mpg for 3.7L engine and 14/20 MPG for 5.3 L engine, in 2WD versions.
The 2011 GMC Canyon Regular-Cab Work Truck comes standard with 16-inch steel-wheels, a 60/40 split front seat, air-conditioning, cruise control, Bluetooth connectivity and satellite radio. SLE models adds aluminium wheels, fog lights and radio with CD player. The extended cab SLE boasts full power accesories and remote keyless entry.
Available on the SLE and SLT trims of 2011 GMC Canyon are Z71 Off-Road suspension package (including larger wheels and tires and a locking rear differential on 4WD models) and the ZQ8 Sport Suspension package (offered exclusively with Canyon’s 5.3 L V8).
Safety features of 2011 Canyon include: standard head curtain airbags, energy-absorbing steel structure, standard four-wheel anti-lock brakes and system anchors for child safety seats.
